Total preliminary initial unemployment claims were down 16% from the previous week, with the Retail Trade, Manufacturing, and Transportation & Warehousing industries seeing the biggest improvements. On the contrary, the Health Care & Social Assistance and Finance & Insurance industries saw upticks in new claims this week.

Preliminary initial unemployment claims were down 31% from the previous week. All industries saw declines in claims except for Health Care & Social Assistance and Manufacturing.
